Bachelor of Science in Business Administration


All the modules you will study support for you to acquire higher skills. These are the one you will need to bring your project to reality as an entrepreneur and/or to build a successful career in a corporation. These are the skills investors and corporations are looking for in you. They are Creativeness and Critical Thinking.


Creativeness, a definition: “Resulting from originality of thought, expression.” Originality: “The ability to think independently and creatively, the quality of being novel or unusual”. “Thinking outside the box” is a skill that can be acquired through practice. Each module is the moment where you will have the opportunity to practice exchanging ideas among your peers and teachers and ask “Why not?”.


What is critical thinking? It is “the objective analysis of facts to form a judgment… several different definitions exist, which generally include the rational, skeptical, unbiased analysis, or evaluation of factual evidence. Critical thinking is self-directed, self-disciplined, self-monitored, and self-corrective thinking.” The curriculum is centered on opportunities for you to question, such as case discussions and simulations, for you to hone this key success factor for your career. As essential as these two skills are, they are not sufficient. You need one more.


The “bottom line” is getting a “Yes”.

How do you prepare to get a “Yes”? How do you present to get a “Yes”? The curriculum is built with the intent to teach you the skills and to allow you to systematically practice them for you to get a “Yes” when it will matter in your career.

The business school will consider all completed applications and will contact applicants within a reasonable period, as soon as a decision has been made. Admission to AGSB is, however, subject to a limited number of enrolments; it is, therefore, possible that not all qualified applicants are always accepted. In such instances, the University accepts those with the strongest qualifications and potential.
Entry to the bachelor’s program requires completion and graduation at the high school level from a recognized institution. However, to be judged acceptable for normal entry the student must have passed the following foundation modules:

  • A mathematics module at the pre-calculus level.
  • An introduction to economics module.
  • A computer literacy module for word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • A critical writing module in English.

The business school may administer one or more entrance exams to determine that a candidate meets the minimum program requirements. The university may require successful completion of the foundation programme. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) results for undergraduate applicants from an American high school are highly recommended. Non-American applicants are not required to submit an SAT score.


  1. Application Form: Applicants must submit a completed and signed application form.
  2. Application Fee: Payment can be made by bank transfer into the American Graduate School of Business bank account at the Crédit Suisse. Please be sure that your name is included on the bank transfer notice. (CHF 250.-)
  3. Passport: Copy of your valid passport.
  4. Photographs: Six (6) passport size photographs must be included with the application form that is submitted to AGSB. Most of these photographs are required by the local authorities and for student visas.
  5. Recommendations: One (1) confidential letter of recommendation from instructors or employers who are familiar with the applicant’s past performance must be sent directly to AGSB. Certified translations must also be submitted for all letters, not in English.
  6. CV: A brief written account of the applicant’s strengths and accomplishments. Include personal details, education, work experience, other qualifications and career expectations.
  7. Transcripts: Applicants must submit official transcripts for all applicable academic work done at the secondary or university-level institutions in the past five (5) years. Transcripts must be sent directly by the institutions to AGSB. Certified translations must also be submitted for all documents, not in English.
  8. Evidence of expected English level. At least 550 / 80points score in a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). AGSB code is 9756. At least 6.0 score in an International English Language Testing System (IELTS). or Attendance for at least three recent full years of study in an institution where the sole language of instruction is English. Obtaining the Standard level or higher, in the International Baccalaureate (IB). Obtaining the American or British Option International du Baccalaureate (OIB) of the French Baccalaureate.


The business school places a high emphasis on written communication skills. All students are expected to significantly improve their communication in English during their studies at AGSB. All students are therefore required to write a personal essay in order to determine the starting point for the improvement of their language skills in written English. If the student is accepted, this essay remains the first component in their portfolio. The essay or motivation letter should be at least 500 words in length. You should tell the story of your academic development and any other work experience you have had in a first-person narrative. You should explain your reasons for applying and how you expect AGSB to further improve your present career goals.


AGSB operates on a rolling admission basis. The school, therefore, needs completed application paperwork as well as all academic records and applicable fees to be received by the admissions office within a minimum of four weeks before the start of each term. If accepted, prospective students will receive an official Letter of Acceptance and an invitation to enroll. At this time, students will also be advised with further information that would be needed in order to complete a student record file.


AGSB operates within a term based system. The academic year begins in September and ends in July with three academic terms (Fall, Winter, and Spring) offered during this period:
Fall Term:            Sept to Dec
Winter Term:      Jan to April
Spring Term:      April to July

There are twelve (12) weeks of study per term, including one week of examinations and for the fall term, one week of orientation, which makes a total of 36 scheduled weeks in the year. There are twelve (16) holiday weeks per year, 4 weeks beginning in December, 2 weeks in April and 8 weeks from the end of July. Examination periods usually occur in the middle and at the end of each term. Holiday periods vary, but there is usually one short break in December, another break in Spring as well as a longer break in July/August.
